Public Notice :   Thygaraja Nilayam closing Down by end of 2011

Dear Well Wishers and Music Rasikas,

Over the past 12 years, Thyagaraja Nilayam has made significant contributions to promote Carnatic music in the Sacramento community by organizing numerous local events, lecture demonstrations, classes and concerts by eminent artists. We are happy to see that Carnatic music has taken strong roots in our community and Thyagaraja Nilayam has certainly played an important role towards this goal. In recent years we have seen the emergence of other organizations in our area engaged in similar activities as Thyagaraja Nilayam.  It is reassuring to know that Carnatic music will live on and thrive in our community under the stewardship of these new organizations. Having accomplished the goals for which it was founded, we are now taking the necessary steps to close down Thyagaraja Nilayam by the end of this year.

We would like to thank all the sponsors and artists who have supported Thyagaraja Nilayam over the years. We thank Dr. Jim Chopyak from the CSUS music department for co-sponsoring numerous Carnatic concerts with Thayagaraja Nilayam under the CSUS World Music banner.  We would like to thank Erin Brennan from CSUS Student Union for helping us with Hall rentals for the various local events we organized over the years.  We are thankful to Mr. Dev Singh for his outstanding sound engineering support at all the major concerts. We would like to express our deep gratitude to all the wonderful people who graciously served on the Thyagaraja Nilayam Board over the years.  We are thankful to all the donors and volunteers for their generous contributions to Thyagaraja Nilayam.  Finally, we thank every one of you in the greater Sacramento community for your support of Thyagaraja Nilayam over the years.

We wish you all a Happy Holiday Season and A Very Happy New Year.

The Thyagaraja Nilayam Team
