Dr. Subhashini Parthasarathy
Dr. Subhashini Parthasarathy hails from a family of
musicians and is an accomplished Indian Classical Carnatic
Vocalist. Subhashini was ably trained under illustrious
gurus like 'Sangeeta Kala Acharya' T. Mukta and 'Sangita
Kalanidh'i T. M.Thyagarajan. Growing up in an atmosphere of
music and culture, with her mother, Dr Nirmala Sundararajan
(who also holds a doctorate in Indian Music), music was the
obvious line of interest.
She is one of the few performing artistes who holds a
doctorate in Indian Music. The primary area of her research
has been on the subject of "Padams and Javalis" in Indian
Classical Carnatic Music, which is her area of strength. She
plans to bring out an album on padams and javalis with the
right kind of music which would be a 'ready to dance'
cassette.
She is an 'A' grade artiste of AIR and Doordarshan. She has
performed widely in
India and abroad and has recieved many awards and
accolades .

Dr. Nirmala Sundararajan
Music for Dr.Nirmala is an integral part of her being. The
accomplished musician the connoisseur sees in her today is
the result of years of dedicated pursuit of Indian Classical
Carnatic music a pursuit that does not stop short of the
competence needed for the concert platform but which strives
for more and greater perception of the myriad subtleties
that make Carnatic music so great and beautiful.
This idealistic aim has been nurtured and enriched by the
several Gurus under whom she has
had the good fortune of training - M. S. Soundarammal of the
Tanjore, Shri. Ramnad Krishnan, P. N. Raghava Rao, Smt. T.
Muktha and Sangitha Kalanidhi T.M. Thiagarajan - (She
continues learning from the latter two).
A.B.A degree holder in Music, from the Madras University,
she has been awarded a Doctorate from the Khairagarh
University, Madhya Pradesh,India.
As her field of research was pertaining to the
compositional diversities in Indian Classcial Carnatic
music, she has acquired skill in presenting the
different compositional forms like Varnas, Kritis,
Padams, Javalis ( an impressive collection of Padams and
Javalis learnt directly from Smt. T. Muktha who is a
scion of the Veena Dhanammal family reputed for its
expert knowledge and rendering of Javalis and Padams),
Ashtapadi, The works of the Nayanmars and the Alvars,
Tirupugazh, Bhajans, Ragamalikas, Viruttams and the list
continues. She can thus do equal justice to the
technicality of a Pallavi as well as the aesthetics of a
Padam in a concert.
Dr. Nirmala has to her credit a vast and rich repertoire of
classical compositions. These comprise of songs in many
languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam,
Sanskrit, Hindi, Bengali etc.
Dr. Nirmala has chiseled her music into an amalgam of
all the fine qualities she has imbibed from her
teachers. Blessed with a charming voice and an
expressive free flowing style, she lays emphasis on the
sensitive and the subtle as also the technical aspects
of concert singing. Her music possesses the uncommon
quality of serenity and grace with an underlying verve
and vigour.

It is our privelege and honor to present to
you two of these great musicians who have dedicated
their lives to propagation of Indian
Classical Carnatic music.
